Balancing Wholeness
The phrase, “mind, body and soul” is used fairly often. It’s a way to acknowledge and define the different energies within ourselves. I propose adding a fourth aspect of the Self - our emotion.
Our body is the physical aspect of our Self. This is how we move, breath and extend our five senses. I describe this aspect as physical health.
Our mind is our cognitive ability. This is how we think, process, and interact with the world around us through conversation and perspective. I describe this aspect as mental health.
What is often considered the soul, I divide into emotion and spirit.
Our emotion is what subconsciously drives us. This is where we feel stress and often restless or stagnate energy. This is also the source of our reactions and how we understand our feelings. I describe this aspect as emotional health.
Our spirit is the house of our confidence. It’s the hearth of our inner fire. Magic happens when we believe in ourselves. Fuel your spirit and you can do anything you put your mind to. I describe this aspect as spiritual health.
Wholeness is when all of these aspects of the Self are aligned, healthy and functioning. It is a balancing act.
Let’s face it, life happens. Our balance is thrown off daily. The trigger is often no fault of our own. Even when it is, how we handle those tough moments make all the difference.
Have you ever felt so tired you could barely keep your eyes open, but your mind was going a hundred miles a minute? Have you ever been ready to get started, but struggle with how to move forward? Have you ever had every aspect of a project in place, but didn’t have the confidence to begin?
Wholeness is about becoming aware of these different aspects of your Self. Understanding how they interact with each other and affect you in your day to day life will unlock ways to harness your energy.
The ability to balance our energy is as needed as breathing. Though, not as automatic. By increasing our awareness through mindfulness, we can strive to infuse wholeness in our lives. We are always balancing, shifting our energy to find that place of peace.
The struggle to find balance and our creative persistence to purify our energy becomes an expression of our authentic self.
