Your Worth Does Not Come From Action
We live in a society that is driven by productivity. Now, I’m all for getting stuff done, but that mentality can lead to burnout quickly.
In my recovery from surgery, I realized that there were a lot of things I couldn’t do for a while. My productivity was almost zero. I felt unworthy.
I looked in the mirror and asked myself why I felt unworthy. No one expected me to do much during those first several weeks. Why was I being so hard on myself when I was already having a hard time?
Ego.
It is our conscious self who wants to keep up with expectation. When our actions come from a place of “have to,” we are not being authentic. I mean, yes, you have to bathe yourself, eat and pay taxes. In this instance, I’m not talking about the necessities. I’m talking about those things we do because we are trying to please someone else. Our worth is not dependent on our expectations.
If it isn’t our actions that makes us worthy, what is it?
Being exactly who we are, makes us worthy.
We don’t have to do anything. We are all meant for greatness.
I am worthy.
I am worthy of a great life. I am worthy of great love.
Some days all you can do is breathe. You are worthy.
Be kind to others and be true to yourself. That is all you can ask of anyone, especially yourself.
So let’s be a little less hard on ourselves and a little more compassionate.
You, my friend, are worthy just as you are.
