Release Excess
The dormant winter often results in excess. We eat more and we collect things that comfort us.
There is nothing wrong with this natural tendency. However, if we keep those extras out of the appropriate season, they begin to weigh us down.
As we begin to rise into spring, what excess are you tripping over?
I admit, I have gained a few pounds I would very much like to let go of. I can acknowledge this without judgement. To change this, I must alter a habit.
I choose to put about 10% less food on my plate each meal. I do this so I can moderate my portion size to reduce my calories and increase my overall energy.
Using a smaller plate helps the brain realize that the portion is enough. When the same portion is on a larger plate, our brain sends a signal that there is scarcity. Our body fears there is not enough even before we begin eating. The reality is the portion is abundant.
We can change our habits and also make it easier to be successful in that habit by using the right tools, like a properly proportioned plate for our food portions.
What is one excess you notice in your life? How can you change (or create) a habit to balance the abundance? What tool or perspective can you use to make that habit successful?
