New Moon in Capricorn

I openly welcome this first new moon of the new year!

The new moon offers an opportunity to slow down and get really clear on where to put your energy, resources and focus. This is your chance to rest, reset and renew!

Just as the sun moves through the zodiac, so does the moon. As the moon goes through the different signs, it reflects what is going on subconsciously and emotionally. The moon stays in a sign for only a couple days, but it allows you the chance to focus your power and decision making.

Capricorn offers themes of structure, responsibility and practical achievement. It is a time to focus on career, business and a careful use of resources.

Now is a powerful time to decide what greater projects or growth you want to work on. Creating this foundation will allow you to manifest your dreams and desires throughout the year.

The moon’s energy can help you become open to a great transformation.

What are you holding onto that no longer fits? Are you squeezing yourself into a box that you are ready to break free from? Are you getting stifled by a rigid structure that no longer serves you? Are you stuck in a pattern that limits your worth?

During this moon, I acknowledge that I am holding onto excess. I keep empty containers because one day we might use them again. (Some of these have moved with us two different times now). I keep clothes that I know I’m never going to wear because I want to make sure something is always clean. (I do laundry every week, I’m not going to ever run out of clothes to wear). I keep backlogs of random writings and half-formed ideas in fear that I will one day run out. (I believe that we are always growing and being inspired, this fear is a lie, a story I tell myself).

This is all excess! It is extra weight and clutter that often confuses me and prevents me from moving forward with a clear idea. To continue growing, I need to let these things go.

Letting go brings up all kinds of emotions. Observe them. Let your emotions flow without judgment.

One of my biggest emotions when it comes to letting go is guilt. I feel guilty for not getting to it, for being wasteful, and for not being enough. When I look at this from a place of detachment, I recognize that I have a passion for all that I do. I want to do everything. However this is not possible.

No one can do everything. But I can do something. We all can.

What will you focus on this season?

Now is the time to rest, to dream, to let go and to build foundations.

Here’s to new beginnings! Here’s to letting go.
