We Control Ourselves

The beautiful thing about life is that it keeps moving. The hard thing about life is that it keeps moving.


We get knocked down and have to scramble to get up again. We don’t always get a chance to catch our breath before the next wave hits.

In our personal and professional lives, we are constantly hit with one adversity after the other. Most of which we have no control over. But the four things we have total control over is how we react, how we adapt, how we breathe and how we take actions.

There are so many things in life we can’t control. Traffic delays, the weather, and how others act are well beyond our jurisdiction. 

However, we do have absolute authority over one person - ourselves. 


We must focus on what we can impact. By concentrating on what is happening within us instead of what is swirling around us, we remember that we have power in our choice. 


We can pause so we respond in kindness instead of reacting harshly. 


We can acknowledge our situation and make small changes to better navigate our surroundings. 


We can breathe and bring our body back to a place of calm. 


We can take action and change our situation for the better. 


We control ourselves. We can choose to change.
