Four Weeks Post-Op Update
It’s been four weeks since my surgery. I’m finally feeling put back together again! My incisions are doing incredibly well. They are healed through so it’s just the top layers of skin scarring over. I’ve already begun physical therapy to increase my flexibility and strength. I’m still extremely stiff throughout my chest, back and shoulders, but it is slowly coming back. I am very thankful for my yoga training and meditation to help this process along both physically and mentally.
I was supposed to have an oncology appointment today to determine whether I need chemotherapy or not. However, that meeting was postponed because the test they sent out for hasn’t come back yet. This is completely due to logistics, not results. The holidays closed the lab office for several days and then the new year caused them to re-process our insurance. They say it’s going to be a couple more weeks. So, more waiting.
My oncology appointment has been rescheduled for February 2. It feels like I signed up for a 5k and just as I reach the 3 mile marker (0.1 miles until it’s over), I get a memo saying it was actually a 10k...that’s another 3.2 miles to go! I spent over two weeks waiting for that appointment, and now it will be that again.
There’s little I can do about it, so I’m focusing on what I can do. I can gain my movement back by working out everyday. I can write and share my meditation practices on @balancingtreepress. I can enjoy my family and live each day in joy and thankfulness. So that’s what I’ll do.
Sending you well wishes in this new year!
