Flexibility Takes Effort
I began studying yoga over six years ago. I would not have considered myself flexible then, in mind or body if Iām honest.
It took me a couple years to understand the power that yoga had to offer. Not only did my body feel better, but I also felt stronger and more capable. I could then feel the stirrings of confidence, something my anxiety politely hid from me.
Over the years, I gained great flexibility. It did not magically happen simply because I walked into a yoga studio. It took a lot of effort.
I leaned into the discomfort of my tight muscles. As I did, I began to loosen the stiffness of my mind as well as my body. Allowing myself to sit with discomfort helped me to embrace uncertainty. I began to encourage new experiences instead of fear them.
I practiced yoga all the time. I did yoga in the studio, in the kitchen and outside. Even when I went to friends houses, I would end up doing yoga in the living room.
The movement of the body, as well as that pull of stretching muscles, became second nature to me. The opening of the mind became a flow of inspiration.
Flexibility is freedom. The effort is worth it.
