Accept Your Fate? Or Change it?
It is in the quiet cricket song and with an open heart that I can share the thoughts on my mind.
I came across energy today that said, it is what it is, you just have to accept it.
However, it is a cusp of a choice between accepting how things are and manifesting a healthy change. I walk the line.
We have to embody a mindset that puts the person first.
Yes, the job will get done, but not at the expense of the person - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
The order of essentialness looks like a pyramid, similar to Maslow’s Hierarchy.
The physicality is the base of the pyramid. We have to be able to do the task. If we can’t, we need to ask for help or find modifications.
The mental is the next most important. This means that we are able to process the task from start to finish.
The emotional toll comes in when we have to balance multiple things at once. With the pace of our society, this is inevitable. This does not mean “multi-tasking” this means making space for the things that are important and letting everything else go.
The spiritual aspect of your life is the icing on the cake, but without it, life just isn’t the same. Spirituality doesn’t mean being devoted to a religion, but instead, is the spark of life that keeps us going. A strong spirit means that you have the drive to finish the task. You know your purpose and have passion to make it happen.
In a world that is trying to tear us down, it takes grit to keep going.
When I am faced with the mentality that “it’s just the way it is,” I ask is that because it would take effort to change?
Sometimes, things are just what they are. I could not will my breast cancer away, but I could control my choices. I could control my attitude. Those seemingly small things saved me during a dark time.
Most of the time, things are what they are until someone comes along who cares enough to change it. This is where I feel like I am now with my career in the Park Service and with my writing. I care, I want to make a difference, and I am trying to care enough, but not too much. It is a fine line to walk.
Do you accept your fate? Or do you make a change?
Why not both? Accept where you are and believe that you can make a difference in the world around you and the world within you.
